Famous Manga Artists Draw Kumamoto's Mascot for a Good Cause

Kumamoto Prefecture suffered a damaging earthquake last year that even affected its iconic Kumamoto Castle. Since the quake, the anime industry and its fans have come out to show support and raise money for repairs. Participants include Pokemon Go, One Piece, Anime Tamago (formerly Anime Mirai), and Prince of Tennis creator Takeshi Konomi.
A new project will be released on September 25 to continue to support reconstruction efforts in the area. The prefecture's star mascot Kumamon is the center of a new illustration collection with contributions by Kemono Friends conceptual creator Mine Yoshizaki, the artists at Tezuka Productions, Fist of the North Star creator Tetsuo Hara, City Hunter creator Tsukasa Hōjō, amelicart, Kotobuki Shiriagari, the artists at Ishimori Pro-Toei, Ryūji Tsugihara, Kafka Asagiri, Kamui Fujiwara, Takuya Fujima, and Yukari Higa.
A total of 41 different artists contributed to the collection. The project is also planning exhibitions and and sales events in the future. The book will retail for 1,944 yen (US$17).
