Japanese entertainment channel WakuWaku Japan announced on Wednesday that it will air Meitantei Conan Episode "One" Chiisakunatta Meitantei (Detective Conan Episode "One": The Great Detective Who Shrank), the two-hour Detective Conan television anime special, on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. The channel will also temporarily suspend its regular 6:00 p.m. airing of the Detective Conan anime starting on Friday. The anime will return on July 27 with a new 11:00 p.m. time slot.
The special premiered in Japan last December. Odex held a one-day screening for the special a day after its Japanese premiere.
The two-hour special celebrated the anime's 20th anniversary, and retells what happened on the day Shinichi's teenaged body was transformed into that of a child. The special added new material that was not in Gōshō Aoyama's original manga or "Jet Coaster Satsujin Jiken" (Roller Coaster Murder Incident), the first episode of the television anime two decades ago. The story begins when Shinichi sets up a date with Ran at the Tropical Land amusement park, and continues with Shinichi's encounter with Gin and the others at the park.
Aoyama personally supervised all aspects of the special. Yasuichiro Yamamoto, Hiroshi Kashiwabara, Katsuo Ono, Masatomo Sudō, and Terumitsu Okada all returned from the television anime as director/scriptwriter, scriptwriter, music composer, character designer, and editor, respectively.
