posted on by Jennifer Sherman
This year's 52nd issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine revealed on Monday that Yoshihiro Togashi's Hunter X Hunter manga is going back on hiatus in the next issue for an undetermined amount of time. In a separate message in the magazine, Togashi noted that he has completed 10 weeks of storyboards, so he plans to continue to work on manuscripts while also consulting about his physical condition and circumstances.
The manga returned from its last hiatus on September 22 after going on hiatus on April 9. The manga previously went on hiatus in September 2017, and Togashi announced at the time that he planned to resume the series before the end of the year. The manga then resumed in this year's ninth issue of Weekly Shonen Jump on January 29.
Shueisha published the manga's 36th compiled book volume on October 4. Viz Media released the 34th volume in North America on March 6.
The manga inspired two television anime series; the latest one ran from 2011 until 2014. The manga also inspired two anime films and several original video anime titles.
The series is also inspiring a new smartphone game titled Hunter X Hunter Greed Adventure. The 3D action role-playing game will launch this winter.
